A message from our Disability Champion

Belmont Road Baptist Church seeks to be a welcoming church for all, regardless of disability. I myself am disabled and have been coming to the church since 2004 and consider it now to be my 2nd family. This page details how we seek to welcome Everyone.

Car Parking

We have our own car park but due to space we do not have the facilities to provide disabled parking spaces. Please contact us in advance and we will do our upmost to reserve you a parking space, next to the entrance.

Accessing the Building

We have a step at the entrance of the church, with a hand rail. We also have a side door for people using mobility aids.

People with Hearing loss

We have a hearing loop which is checked on a regular basis.

People with Sight loss

The words of our worship songs are projected onto a screen. If you  are concerned that you will not be able to see them, please contact us in advance so that a print out can be made available in your preferred font size. If it would help, for you to have them on your device (eg your Tablet) then the words could be emailed to you.

Seating

The chairs in the church do not have arms, if you need one please contact us and we will see if we can accommodate your needs. If you find having a cushion at your back helps you to sit more comfortably then please do feel free to bring one with you.

Getting to the Church Using Public Transport

Bus number 2 which runs from Hemel town centre to Bennetts End would be the best bus route. This would drop you at the bottom of Belmont Road. Please note that you would need to walk 370 metres up Belmont Road until you reach the church.

Toilet Facilities

We have an ambulatory toilet which is big enough to fit a wheel chair into.

Housegroups

We have several Housegroups within the church with varying degrees of accessibility. If you wish to join a group please contact us to find the best group for you.

Be Aware Be Clear

Heidi, our Disability Champion has her own Disability Awareness project, Be Aware Be Clear which involves Heidi giving talks to organisations, writing a blog and more recently working with a puppet! As a church we fully support Heidi's work and more information can be found by looking at her website, https://www.beawarebeclear.org
