About Us
Founded in 1954 as an extension of the work of what were then larger Baptist Churches in Hemel Hempstead, we are a growing church with a lively Evangelical congregation. Average attendance is 60 – but you can count up to 100 people at the all-age service normally held on the 2nd Sunday of the month. We currently have 50 people who have been welcomed into membership.
Belmont Road caters well for children and young people – and so we should with well over 100 connected with the church. Currently you’ll find activities from Toddlers to Teens where spiritual and social development are key.
Adults, too, are well served - we have 3 house groups, plus Alpha and a basic enquirers course known as ‘Just Looking.’ Seniors enjoy food and fellowship at our weekly Luncheon Club.
Our main meeting day is, of course, Sunday and we are led in a mix of contemporary and traditional worship by a competent music group, featuring guitar, drums and keyboard.
Preaching is carried out mainly by our Minister – Rev Garry Jenkins, a northerner with a down-to-earth and relaxed style which is soundly Biblically based. He is assisted by a small team of like-minded preachers and teachers.
We have a vision to show ‘Passion for Jesus and Compassion for Others’ and we seek to meet this through: Devotion to God; Declaring God’s Purposes; Discipling God’s People and Demonstrating God’s love. This is worked out in our regular church life and our daily lives as Christians. We want to grow in each of these areas and have put in place a strategy and structure to help us do just that.
The church has several trained Counsellors and Prayer Ministry Team and Pastor Garry is always available to talk.
